I've notice after a few conversations with "Christians" that we always claim God's grace but we never want to admit that we need to let go of things.
People love to quote scriptures about grace, mercy, not judging, love, acceptance, we all fall short; but everyone ignores the scriptures about what type of people go to hell, what God thinks of idolatry, striving to not fall instead of expecting to fall, letting go of things that hinder our growth towards perfection, if you love God keep his commandments....
I'll be the first to say that I'm not perfect but I don't use that as an excuse. A sin is a sin whether I'm doing it or not. I thought that the goal of a Christian is to grow toward perfection as God leads you daily by showing you what things in your life need to be removed or changed. The goal isn't to live and never give up anything and never grow and just think that because God is merciful that's enough to go to heaven. What good is God's mercy on the day I die if I continued to live in fornication, practiced withcraft, beat my wife everynight, caused my children to stumble by letting them watch filthy tv, filled myself with demonic thoughts and images by listening to godless music, etc? If you're really saved God will speak to you and show you that none of those things are acceptable and he will give you deliverance if you desire it.
I thought grace was an opportunity (given by God of his own choosing not by any right that we think we have) to get on the straight path, not an excuse to keep living in sin.
Correct me if I'm wrong please.
