I'll let others chime in, but I think if you can do it, then you should. By that I mean, the thief on the cross clearly wasn't baptized, but he did not have the opportunity. Yet, Jesus said that as part of our conversion, we should.
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Mark 16:16
It is an outward sign of our turning in faith to Christ and the fact that we are turning from the world and towards Christ for new life in Him.
