This question is for everyone.
Since obedience is better than sacrifice, and, it brings GOD great pleasure when we are obedient to him; Since Jesus died to save us from sin and fulfill the law and we as Christians (hopefully being saved and born again) live under grace and not the law; Are we free to eat any and everything including the things that the LORD instructed us not to eat in the old Testament?
Since GOD is the same then, as he is now, and as he will be forever. Do you think he cares if we eat the things he told us not to eat? Clearly he told us not to eat those things for a reason (them being unclean to us).
Now, let's say if we are under grace (which we are) and not the law (which we are not as born again Christians) (the law in which we were instructed not to eat certain things), and, we can eat anything. Do you think it would still make GOD happy if we remained obedient to his instructions? Or we he be happy if we didn't?
Just like tithing. We are under grace but we still do it right? (at least I do)
I would like everyone's opinion please. (On food and in being under grace are we to be obedient to GOD's instructions)
My answer is yes. The same goes for the food. I feel that we should be able to eat whatever we want as long as it lines up with GOD's guidelines. I believe that whether we are under grace, or the law GOD wants us to remain obedient to him.
Look at Abraham, Noah, and Peter.
Now by no means am I trying put anyone on blast or prove or make a point. I just want other opinions.

Oh yes... I would to add in these verses as well.
II Corinthians 6:17-18 states "17: Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18: And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."
II Corinthians 7:1 states "1: Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness (unclean) of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

I stray from offering my "opinion" but hopefully the Word will serve to answer your question concerning eating certain foods: Romans 14:14-23 (New Living Translantion for clarity just for the sake of clarity in wording only as I read these passages also in the King James version) I know and am perfectly sure on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong then for the person it is wrong. And if another Christian is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don't let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died. Then you will not be condemned for doing something you know is all right. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude you will please God. So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. Don't tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, there is nothing wrong with these things in themselves. But it is wrong to eat anything if it makes another person stumble. Don't eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another Christian to stumble. You may have faith to believe that there is nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God. Blessed are those who do not condemn themselves by doing something they know is all right. But if people have doubts about whether they should eat something, they shouldn't eat it. They would be condemned for not acting in faith before God. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning. Also 1 Timothy 4:1-4 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings that come from demons. These teachers are hypocrites and liars. They pretend to be religious, but their consciences are dead. The ywill say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain food. But God created those foods to be eaten with thankgiving by people who know and believe the truth. Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it. We may receive it gladly, with thankful hearts. For we know it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. Also remember that we are free through Christ Jesus from the law that was given by Moses. The law was for the immoral and lawless not for those that have been redeemed by the blood of Christ Jesus. The Romans passages really emphasizes the importance of be mindful of our brothers and sisters and building each other up in the faith and not in vain arguments concerning the law. Also, there is a blog concerning the law and grace on the LDM blogspot that I found reallt helpful and packed with loads of Scripture: thelatterdays.blogspot.com/2009/08/spirit-of-law-summary.html This is only the summary but it is an 8 part blog entry. I hope that sheds light on your question if only just a little bit. God Bless.

Tikastar... Thank you! That helped alot. I read the LDM faithfully. I've read the blogs from the start... except the ones about cancer. So yes... I'm very familiar about the one on living under grace.
I thank GOD for other people like you who can help others, like me, gain clarification on situations that may seem complicated or too easily misunderstood.
I was a vegetarian for 1 year and 4 months because of some MESS that PETA was showing on there website. Then I came across 1 Timothy 4:1-4 and I went back to my normal eating. This was back in December.
I guess I got distracted when I read an article about what the Bible says about eating meat, and, it threw me off a bit. But after much prayer and support. I am more than sure how I should go about eating because I live under grace...
I pray that GOD helps me to be sure. I find myself being unsure about things quite often ( things along the lines of eating and dressing and what not). But I let go and let GOD continue to mold me into the person he would have me to be. For a long time I've been a sayer and not a doer. I use to try to live my life on both sides convincing myself that what I was doing was right. Until recently have I decided to take up my cross and truly follow GOD and obey him.
By doing so, I must say, I'm doing alot better. I find myself sure of things. Things are easier to understand and discern. I feel GOD's presence and my ears are open to his voice and his Holy Spirit.
Life seems to be a little bit lighter.
As I progress and keep leaning and depending on GOD. I can see my growth and where I came from and where I'm going. When I say I LOVE THE LORD. I truly mean it. And, I know what it means to love the LORD and be loved back in return.
GOD is good and I must say, I'm a work in progress, and, like the saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day (or over night)" Somethings take time... creating masterpieces take time. And I feel the LORD is taking time to mold me wonderfully. Nowadays I find myself eager to please and server the LORD and make him happy. It's so much better than the alternative. Like I said earlier... Obedience is better than sacrifice.
And by being closer to him. I find it easier to quit some of these bad habits. lol

That is awesome Estes and we can always find the answers we need in the Word and as the Holy Ghost leads us. I too know what it feels like to have questions but we must ALWAYS first seek the Lord on those issues. PETA does well as far as stopping animal cruelty but based on what? Not the Word. I have a few friends that have recently decided to go vegetarian but I think it was for personal reasons more than anything. If we admit it, a lot of what we do tends to be for "personal" reasons and not really because the Spirit of God has led us to do those things. Oh and I encourage you to read LDM's blogs on cancer....WOW...I was really blessed by it! God is a healer and her truly will direct us if we seek Hime wholeheartedly! I encourage you to continue to fall in love with the Lord as I strive to do the same. Hey...I have a blog as well. Not as good and informative as Latter Days...really a bunch of "personal" (lol) thoughts and sentiments.... www.tikastar.blogspot.com. Hope you have time to visit. God Bless you and keep growing in the wonderful graces of the Lord brother!
