National Judgment
Some (including Pat Robertson) are speaking about how Haiti is heavily influenced by voodoo and perhaps these satanic beliefs played a role in the recent earthquake which has killed so many.
It is easy to see that which seems to be right in your face. But what about the hidden sins in the heart of man? What about world leaders who do in secret what Robertson alleges Haiti did in public?
Many, many countries have been given over to wickedness because that is the nature of fallen man and satan is the god of this world. There is no righteous country. Many nations have been turned into hell because of the depravity of man (Psalm 9:17).
What is worse? A country that is poor in material wealth because of satanic influences OR a country that is poor in spirit because of the same? Is God's judgment only seen in natural disasters? Or is it also seen in an abundance of wealth as the very culture of a society destroys itself in selfishness and avarice?
God judges in many ways. He is judging the U.S. everyday by giving the people want they want: a culture devoid of Godly influence. So easy to see God's "judgment" on others when that same just recompense is being meted out even right where we live.
Individual Judgment
When people die in this world, folks often whitewash the life. No matter the life led, everyone is preached into Heaven. They are ALL "in a better place", "looking down on us", and we will "see them again". Let me tell you, where some folks are going, you don't WANT to see them again.
God is not going to pat us on the back and give us a sanitized review of our days. He is going to open His book and we will be judged for every idle deed & word therein. The eulogy we often hear at funerals and the write ups in obituaries will bear no resemblance to what we will hear from Him on that day if we have not given our lives to Jesus Christ...and LIVED for Him. We need His righteousness imparted to us in order to stand.
This is not about promoting fear, but reality. The Bible speaks of the last days being filled with wars, earthquakes, famines, pestilences, and persecutions. Are we ready to deal with that? Are we praying for wisdom, strength, and mercy to stand during such times?
The end of our world happens when we depart this life. May we all hear Him say, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
"Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Revelation 12:12
