We have been getting feedback from some who claim Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, but seem to think that it is "unloving" to address sin. Their view is that the church's job is simply to "love" people to Jesus and that any talk of sin is wrong and judgmental.
Not only do such individuals lack a biblical understanding of God's commands to His people to judge righteously, but they have adopted an unScriptural "Gospel" that placates people in their sins and leads them to falsely believe that they serve God when they do not.
Let me say unequivocally that there is NO Gospel message without dealing with sin. Men will not turn and repent from that which they are not convicted. Sin is not some dirty word which shouldn't see the light of day. Dealing with it was the focus of Jesus' ministry and the reason why He came!
I have seen in my own life the power of God impacting and changing people's lives when we follow God's plans. We must never begin to think that we can improve upon what God has done. Such only results in compromise.
Anyway, I am sure most of you reading this know the difference, but I felt it was important to get out there.
The following quote was shared with me today which seems to perfectly sum up this mindset.
"When men are in sin, and the devil comforts them, they think it is the Holy Ghost. And when men are in sin, and the Holy Ghost convicts them, they think it is the devil." --Jesse Morrell
I couldn't have said it better myself.
